Losing weight and gaining healthy patterns
Three years ago I began the APP Program. APP stands for “Addictive Personality Paradigm,” and it’s a program within the Sweet Medicine Sun Dance path for helping people overcome addictive patterns.
As part of the program I gave up sugar for a year, and then re-committed for another two years because I was so happy with the results. This part of my journey took me from weighing 265 pounds at the beginning of the program, to 235 pounds at the end of the three years.
Then using what I had learned during that journey, and what I have continued to gain through workshops and ceremonies, I decided to get closer to my ideal weight (for my height, that would be 200 pounds). I hired a personal trainer and followed his program exactly. Three months later, I now weigh 207 pounds. In just over three years I have lost almost 60 pounds in total and have gained a healthy pattern of sustaining my new weight.
Soon I will begin strength training which will get me where I want to be for the next part of my journey. I will turn 54 this year and I want to be healthy, strong, and fit as I pursue the goals that I have for this next part of my life.

Does it mean you have to cook everything from scratch though? I think I would be quite happy giving up sugar, probably naive given that I don’t take it in my coffee. You can still drink coffee, can’t you? I roast my own and programming without coffee would probably be terminal for me
Thanks for all your stuff Bill, I’m currently working my way through one of your training videos and you definitely look healthier than you did a few years ago
